NOTHING BEATS A GAME 7

Tonight's Bruins-Capitals game marks the first Game 7 of the 2012 NHL playoffs.  Although hockey seems to be fourth on the depth chart in America in terms of fan interest during the regular season, come playoff time it seems to take center stage in the sports world.  What makes the NHL playoffs so unique is that regular season records don't seem to matter.  Unlike almost any other sport where the favorite tends to win in the playoffs, in the NHL that's far from the case.  Just this year, the Vancouver Canucks, winner's of the President's trophy, given to the team with the best regular season record, lost in just give games to the eighth seeded LA Kings.  In the Eastern Conference alone this playoffs, all but one series is going to a Game 7.

As for tonight's game, which I personally have much interest in since the Bruins are my hometown team, I don't think it will be that much different from the rest of the series. Every game has been decided by 1 goal and I don't see it changing much tonight.  One thing that has made this series unique is that the road team has fared better than the home team, with each team winning two games on the road thus far.  Both goaltenders have been great and I expect them to continue to be great tonight.  Two players that need to step up who have been quiet thus far are Milan Lucic for the Bruins and Niklas Backstrom for the Capitals.  As a Bruins fan I also hope that speedy second year player Tyler Seguin who had struggled for much of the series can build on his Game 6 overtime winning goal.

In short I think the Bruins will take advantage of the hometown crowd and win 3-2, and if you don't have any plans tonight I highly recommend you tune in.
